Our island's cultural and humanities-based nonprofit organizations do the important work of exploring, preserving, and engaging us in our shared heritage and community. They help us connect to our histories, understand our rich diversity, express our identities and tell our stories. They help us embody our best selves.

Guam is facing serious challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, and it's important for us all that these nonprofits continue in the work they do.

At Humanities Guåhan, we're honored to be able to offer support to these organizations through the CARES Act Emergency Relief Grant Program. This program is made possible by funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the federal 2020 Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Cultural and humanities-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in Guam experiencing hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic may apply for up to $10,000 in relief funds. These funds may be used for general operating expenses and pre-existing or pre-planned programming.  Matching funds are not required.

We highly encourage small organizations with limited resources or access to support, as well as organizations that serve underserved communities, to apply.

The application is now open for submissions at We recommend that you use a computer, rather than a mobile device, to complete the Submittable application. The application will remain open until October 1, 2020, or until funds are no longer available.
