The 2024 Community Grant Cycle is now closed. We extend our sincere thanks to all applicants for their interest and dedication to advancing the humanities in our community. Stay tuned for announcements regarding the FY2025 cycle!
Our Community Grant Program is a great opportunity for non-profits, higher education institutions, and local government entities in Guåhan to receive funding for humanities programs that engage and empower the public. Through our continued partnership with the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), we able to offer up to $15,000 in matching funds for eligible humanities programs last year.
What is Humanities Programming?
The humanities explore and enrich our understanding of human experience, history, and culture. Humanities programs eligible for the grant cycle may include but are not limited to, lectures, seminars, conferences, workshops, film or book discussion series, panel discussions, interpretive exhibits, permanent and travelling fairs, festivals, tours, and media productions encompassing publications, radio, television programming, film, and video. We encourage applicants to explore innovative program formats that encourage discussions among diverse audiences. Past projects have included various innovative and impactful programs, which you can view here.
At Humanities Guåhan, we celebrate the humanities' vast spectrum, encompassing history, modern and classical languages, literature, law, philosophy, comparative religion, ethics, and the history, criticism, and theory of the arts. We embrace interdisciplinary areas such as Pacific studies, CHamoru studies, Micronesian studies, Asian studies, American studies, women and gender studies, ethnic studies, folklore, and folklife. Additionally, we welcome humanities projects that offer perspectives on current political, social, or economic issues.
